Between January and March 2017 alone, there were 1,883 new cases of people living with HIV in Mexico, of whom 45 had acquired AIDS, according to the National Center for HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control. Sexual contact is the main cause of transmission. Young people between 20 and 24, followed by those aged 15 to 19, are the most affected. However, the number may be much higher. Just over 50% of HIV-positive people know that they carry the virus.

For more than 20 years we have designed personalized programs and interactive games for different populations (pharmacists, community leaders, teachers, students and parents). We have two modules for young people: through school mentors and through youth counselors. In secondary school our content has been integrated into textbooks. All approaches encompass the development of decision-making, self-knowledge and assertive communication skills. Intrinsic empowerment is reinforced, as is developing agents of change.
