To promote sustainable economic development among rural women through the strengthening of psychosocial skills and a small-scale business training program in the mountains of Mexico´s third poorest state: Oaxaca, contributing to family and community well-being in the region.
Project objectives
Develop a program for psychosocial and technical skill development, loan provision and community bank and microenterprise creation, geared toward young women.
Train local women as promotors, buildling their personal, technical and facilitation skills. Each of these promotors in turn replicates the program with 30 women.
Provide technical assistance and small group loans to participating women for the creation of small businesses.
Evaluate the impact of different combinations of health and empowerment, psychosocial and business skill training as well as small loan provision among women´s groups in 20 Oaxacan communities, in order to determine the most effective combination.
Disseminate project results among communities and non-governmental and governmental organizations in order to build the institutional support necessary for wide-scale implementation of an integrated business skill development model.
